Fairbury Speedway Sees Shirley Earn Third DIRTcar Summer Nationals Win as Harrison Picks Up First Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals Victory of the Season

FAIRBURY, IL — June 22, 2019 — Brian Shirley earned his third DIRTcar Summer Nationals victory of the season by holding off Frank Heckenast Jr. to win on Saturday night in Fairbury Speedway’s 30th all-time Summer Nationals event.

Shirley, of Chatham, IL, narrowly edged Heckenast in the 50-lap Feature to pocket $10,000 and extend his lead in the overall championship as he attempts to capture his third Summer Nationals crown.

In the DIRTcar Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals Feature, Mike Harrison rolled the top while Nick Hoffman kept pace on the bottom as the two raced side-by-side before Harrison edged ahead just enough to take the checkered flag, his first win on the tour this season.

Six-time Series champion Harrison, of Highland, IL, also became the fourth different winner through four events on this season’s Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals campaign. It was the 528th win of his career dating back to 1995.
