OCRS Sprints invade Enid Speedway on Saturday
 
By John Rittenoure, ENID, Okla. (October 2, 2017) – Winged sprint cars return to Enid Speedway’s 3/8’s mile oval when racing resumes at the Garfield County Fairgrounds track this weekend.
 
The Ameri-Flex Hose and Accessories Oil Capital Racing Series sprint cars have not raced in Enid since 2009. A good field of competitiors is expected for the return that will a purse paying $1500-to-win plus additional lap money will be on the line. 
 
Must of the credit for the added lap money goes to Enid resident Sam Saeger who helped secure lap sponsors for the event.
 
Zach Chappell of Talala is the current points leader with one victory on the season.  Oklahoma City area drivers Shane Sellers, Sheldon Barksdale and Whit Gastineau are close behind holding down second through fourth in the standings. 
 
ooner Modifieds, Sooner Sport Modifieds, Pure Stocks and Mini Stocks will complete the racing program. 
 
Brandon Gemmill topped a 22-car field of modifieds on Sept. 9 winning his heat and leading all 20 laps in the main event. 
 
Ross McCartney battled his way to victory over a 26-car starting field in the Sooner Sport Mod feature. 
 
Skylar McCall took the lead with five laps remaining to win the Pure Stock feature and local racer Johnie Rauschenberg cruised to victory in the Mini Stock A Feature. 
 
Gates open at 2 p.m. Saturday with racing beginning at 6. 
 
Grandstand admission is $15 for adults and $12 for seniors, military and students age 10-15. Pit passes are $30. 
 
The track will be open for practice on Friday. Gates open at 5 and practice begins at 7.
