New and Improved Red River Speedway to open the 2008 season under new ownership
A full season of fun and entertainment for the whole family is scheduled
Wichita Falls, TX. Jan. 28th 2008 - Short Track Motorsports, a Lewisville-based company, is proud to announce the purchase of Red River Speedway last month. Mike Nowels, general partner, states, "Our plan is to make major investments that will create a first-class entertainment venue for Wichita Falls and the surrounding communities." Red River Speedway will open the season March 29th with a full summer of fun planned for the Wichita Falls area. "Red River Speedway has been a family favorite in the Wichita Falls area for over 40 years and we are excited to be a part of such a great family tradition," says Charles Turner, general partner. Mike Cooper, general manager, adds, "We have a full season of racing planned?this year we have the United States Super Trucks coming 6 times, the Legends and Thunder Roadsters, Allison Legacy cars, Pro Modifieds, Pro Trucks, Texas Super Late Model Series along with our weekly favorites like the Hornets, Chargers, Bombers and Thunder Stocks."
Cooper brings years of experience to the table. "Mike Cooper, as our general manager, brings experience in short track racing and has a great relationship with the fans and community," says Turner. In addition, Promoter Line, Inc. a top-rated event producing company, will be brought on to bring concerts and related events to the track. Promoter Line President Jerry Thompson says, "With our vast experience of producing events at various NASCAR and Indy Car tracks, we feel like this is a great opportunity to bring the blend of music and racing to the Wichita Falls and surrounding areas. The enhancement of an all-around entertainment facility for this region will certainly add value to the ticket holders' overall experience at the Red River Speedway."
"We are looking forward to being a part of the Wichita Falls community and plan on providing first- class entertainment for the whole family throughout the year," says Nowels. Says Cooper, "We plan on expanding the pit area and the midway area to better accommodate both the racers and the fans. We really want the whole family to come out, have a good time and not bust their wallet."
