Since 1961, this Lanny Edwards owned track has been a staple of dirt track racing in the western part of the state and that will continue once again for the 2011 race season. Champ sprints, USA modifieds, limited modifieds, factory stocks and mini-stocks are the divisions of choice with the only rule change for any of those divisions being that aluminum heads will be allowed for the USA modifieds.

The champ sprints will be the only featured weekly sprint car division at any Lanny Edwards owned track in 2011 as the sprint cars have been dropped for weekly divisions at his Devils Bowl Speedway. Among the specials at Lawton Speedway for 2011 include the OCRS, ASCS Sooner region and ASCS2 and eco-tech midgets.

An open practice session and registration will kick things off on Sunday, April 10th from noon until 5:00 PM. The regular season gets underway with the OCRS sprinters taking to the track on Saturday night, April 16th for their season opener as well. The only divisions as support classes on this night will be the USA modifieds and limited mods. One week later will see all divisions compete with their season points finale scheduled for September 3rd.

Of course, there are plenty of "free nights" scheduled for each town and city. Please check out the tracks website schedule for those dates and towns.

On Saturday night, May 14th, the next big special for the quarter mile, red clay oval will be the ASCS sooner region along with the ASCS2 and eco tec midgets.

The ASCS sooner region returns by itself on Saturday night, June 4th before the OCRS sprinters return to the track on Saturday night, June 25th.

Mark your calendars for July 16th as the ASCS sooner region takes on the best from the ASCS lone star region in what is sure to bring top quality cars and drivers as in years past.

The last appearance to the track for the ASCS sooner region will be on August 20th.

As mentioned, championship night will be taking place on September 3rd with the big Lawton Speedway Winter Nationals slated for September 30th and October 1st. The winter nationals is a huge event for not only the track but racers and fans alike as this event ends the season for some.

To keep up to date on point standings, results and any other schedule changes, please click on the Lawton Speedway track ad or keep it eyed here on tidbits for more information throughout the 2011 race season.
